Chinese Quarter Auction: Check out the IHF Company Store and see what is up for bid in the quarter auction. Buy five tickets for $1.00 and place them in jar of which item you would like to win, you’ve just made a bid! Don’t forget to keep the second ticket and check the numbers which will be posted during the IHF weekend.

• 2012 Iron Heritage Festival Nature and Gardening Expo 10am to 4pm at the Montour Preserve Visitors Center. Hosted by the Penn State Montour County Master Gardeners in conjunction with Iron Heritage Festival committee. Ticket available at the IHF Company Store cost $12, Children under 18 free. Tickets of $15 will also be available the day of the event at Montour Preserve.
Montour County Penn State Master Gardeners, Penn State Extension educators, a member of the Audubon Society and Montour Preserves naturalist, will teach two workshops offered on the hour and will run 45 minutes each.
Workshops will consist of the following:
Bird watching/bird walk (Dr. Bill Malone, Member of the Audubon Society)
Proper tree pruning and demonstration (Master Gardener)
Pollinator gardening (Master Gardener)
Growing and cooking with herbs (Master Gardener)
Composting and how to build a compost bin out of pallets (Master Gardener)
Nature journaling (Jon Beam, PPL Montour Preserve’s Naturalist)
Mr. Yuck and poison prevention/ pesticide safety (Master Gardener)
Nature crafts for kids of all ages (Master Gardener)
Insider’s Guide to Buying Grass fed Meats (Caroline Owens of Owens Farm)
Revitalizing the American Chestnut Tree (Dr. Blair Carbough)
Water Conservation; construct a Rain Barrel (Lee Murphy, Master Gardener)

Tournament Events of the Iron Heritage Festival
• Starting Wednesday July 18th, The third annual IHF Dr. Foss Tennis Tournament. Men, Women and Junior Boys and Girls are all invited to play at the Danville Middle School tennis courts. The Events will be an Open for Juniors (18 & under), Men & Women singles, doubles & mixed and Juniors Boys/Girls singles, double and singles. New this year will be a consolation round in the tournament. Applications with more details can be found at the IHF Company Store, also click here for the Tennis Tournament Application. • 6:45am – 7:15am – Saturday, July 21 Iron Heritage Festival Quoits Tournament sponsored by the USQA will be held Saturday. Quoits, the predecessor of horseshoe pitching, dating back to ancient Greek Olympics was played by young and old alike, rich and poor. Tournaments went on at every picnic and get together. In Danville, tournaments were played in Montgomery Park at lunch time and in the evenings. The tournament will be played behind the tennis courts on the Danville Middle School lawn. Not only do the 'quoits pitchers' play for the prize money but for the prestige of being the best quoits pitcher in the country! Last year there were several local teams, one team even won a prize and participated in other USQA events, so get your teams together! Wednesday July 18, 2012 • 9:30am - IHF’s bus tour will leave at 8:30am from Danville Middle School to tour the National Canal Museum in Easton. Tickets are $30. The bus will do a quick stop at the McDonalds before getting on turnpike and will stop for lunch in Easton at Porter’s Pub. Price of lunch is not part of the ticket price. Seating is limited.
• 6:00pm – Danville Middle School Tennis Courts – Beginning of play for the 3rd annual Foss Tennis Tournament.

• Studio Brick – 118 Walnut Street – Don’t miss this exhibit of photographs and paintings by North Mountain Art League of scenes of the Susquehanna River. These works of art will be judged by not only the IHF Committee but there will be a people’s choice award.

• 8am to 5pm –Out House Dig, behind Stoneware Pottery Shop, 331 Mill St. One man’s trash is another’s treasure, and to an historian an outhouse can be a gold mine. Every old home had an outdoor ‘pit’ privy or outhouse until the advent of indoor plumbing. Garbage items like empty bottles and pottery are possibly the most common, but coins and other valuable items were occasionally lost down an outhouse hole and may be recovered as the outhouse hole is dug. Robert Lee invites you to the presentation of his outhouse dig to see what he brings back from the past as we get a glimpse of how our ancestors lived.
• 11am – 4pm – Premier Studios, 232 Mill St. Indian Arrowhead and artifact display. Randy Billmeyer will display his life long collection of Indian Arrowhead and artifacts and will be available to talk to you about his collection, where he found his items and just what the items were used for.
• Noon -4pm – Studio Brick. North Mountain Art League art exhibit. See description above.
• Noon to 5pm – Montgomery House open House. Danville’s most historic home is open to the public this weekend.
• 3pm – Community Ballroom - Mr. Gib Young portrays Theodore Roosevelt.
• 4pm – ‘Railroads of Montour’ with John Decker at Hawkins Garage, Mill St. Five railroads have served Montour County from 1842 to present. Listen as John explains this history which he has had a lifetime interest and enthusiasm in.
• 7pm- IHF Parade, starting at the old TRW parking lot on East Market St. & marches down E. Market St to Mill St. and ends up at Coles Hardware Parking Lot. (food available 4pm until ?) Click here for Parade entry form *Note Parade is on Friday evening this year!
• 8:30 – 10:30pm - Stanky and the Coal Miners Polka Party at the Sovereign Back Parking Lot across from the Court House. Stanky & the Coal Miners is one of the world’s premiere polka bands. Bring your dancing shoes and show off your polka steps!
• 8:30 – 10:30pm – Seasoned Sounds, an 18 piece group which specializes in big band swing music will be performing at Coles Hardware parking lot. Bring your lawn chairs along and enjoy the music of one of the festivals favorite bands.
• 8:30 – 10:30pm – the 3rd Bridgade will perform at the north end of Mill Street, across from the Montgomery House.

• 10am – 5pm Montgomery House open House. Danville’s most historic home is open to the public this weekend.
• 10am-5pm –Danville High School Alumni in front of the Moose, Mill Street. Representatives of the DHS Alumni will be available to register alums who are in Danville during IHF. Stop in and sign your class list, find out who is in town and reminisce. All classes who are celebrating their class reunion this year, are especially invited!

There will be no audition, but performer(s) must complete an application at IHF Company Store, 316 Mill Street
The following rules apply:
Music or performance art must be from the IHF time period which is 1800 – 1950.
Ours is a family festival, so appropriate material is required.
Musical talent is especially encouraged.
One selection per performance.
Sorry, no animal acts can be permitted.
The winning performance will be determined by a panel of celebrity judges.

• 9:45am - Historic Church Service at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church, corner of Pine and East Market Streets.
• 10am to 3pm Fly-In at the Danville/Riverside Airport, Sunbury Road, Riverside. Celebrate the Airport’s 75th Anniversary while watching the planes fly in. Visit with the pilots, learn about their plans. The radio control flyers will be showing off their skills with tricks for their model planes. Also for your enjoyment will antique farm machinery, an antique car show and food a vendor with breakfast and lunch available. Plane rides available for a fee.
• Noon to 3pm – Montgomery House Open House, Danville’s most historic home is open to the public this weekend. On display is Montour Co. & Riverside’s music heritage.
• 1pm – Danville Middle School tennis courts, 2nd Annual Dr Foss Tennis Tournament Finals
• 6:30 pm - Hymn Sing, Montgomery Park on Water Street by the River. Bring your lawn chairs (Rain, Mahoning Presbyterian Church) led by Larry Mordan and friends.
